So you’ve received your wedding dress and scheduled your first fitting – you’re quickly approaching the finish line! This is an exciting and hectic time for you, so it’s important to stay on top of things and make the most of your final appointments. Your wedding dress fittings are extremely important because you want your gown to fit you perfectly and flatter your every curve on your wedding day. This means that you should be bringing everything you might wear on your wedding day to each of your fittings. Here’s 5 things you need to bring to your wedding dress fittings.
1. Bridal lingerie
What will you wear under your wedding gown – practical underwear or sexy bridal lingerie? No matter what you plan on wearing underneath, it’s absolutely crucial for you to bring it with you to your fitting. You need to make sure that your gown fits comfortably over your undergarments and that nothing is visible underneath. For example, if you plan to wear a corset underneath your gown, you’ll want to be sure the alterations accommodate you wearing the corset. If you have the dress fitted to your body, it’ll be too tight when you put the corset on! So, make sure you bring all the undergarments you plan to wear on your wedding day so you can make sure everything fits properly.

2. Wedding shoes
One common bridal gown alteration is the hem – your salon might recommend that you shorten the hem to suit your height. However, if you plan to wear 5 inch stiletto heels, you’ll want to keep your hem longer so that your shoes aren’t awkwardly peeking out too much. Try on your wedding dress with your wedding shoes at the salon so that your tailor can see what an appropriate length for your gown would be. This is also a good opportunity for you to practice walking around in your entire ensemble so you can glide gracefully down the aisle like the beautiful princess you are.

3. Accessories and jewelry
Do you plan to wear a veil, headpiece or any other accessories and jewelry? Bring them with you to the fitting so you can see how the entire ensemble will look. It’s always a good idea to make sure the necklace you bought falls in line with the neckline of your gown, and that your veil looks beautiful as it begins to overlap the back of your dress. You’ll get a sneak peek at what you’re going to look like on the happiest day of your life, and be able to ensure that everything matches and looks good.

4. A camera
Now that you have an idea of how your entire wedding day outfit looks, from your dress and veil to shoes and accessories, you want to document it! Bring a camera so that you can take a few pictures of what you look like from all angles, and take a video or two so you can see what you look like walking around. You want to look elegant and graceful, so if your dress falls awkwardly as you walk, you’ll want to bring that up to your seamstress so they can take care of it in the next round of alterations.

5. A trusted friend
Whether it’s your mother, maid of honor or best friend, it’s important to bring a trusted friend along to your wedding dress fittings so that you can get a second opinion on how things look. Your tailor will always be able to offer advice, but your close friend will know what you like and will be able to tell you the truth if anything looks odd. She can also help take pictures and videos so that you can see what you’ll really look like on the most important day of your life.
