Wedding movies are fun to watch and wedding vows are hard to write. The hardest part of wedding vows is putting into words all the things you love about your partner. How do you sum your entire love story and all of your emotions into a couple paragraphs? As you sit with pen in hand (and possibly even a glass of wine), stuck with some serious writer’s block, here is a few wedding movie vows that may inspire your real wedding vows.
The Wedding Singer (1998)
Robbie: [singing] I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad / Carry you around when your arthritis is bad / All I wanna do is grow old with you. / I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches / build you a fire if the furnace breaks / Oh it could be so nice, growin’ old with you. / I’ll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold. / Need you, feed you, I’ll even let you hold the remote control. / So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink / Put you to bed when you’ve had too much to drink. / Oh I could be the man to grow old with you. / I wanna grow old with you.
The Notebook (2004)
“Poets often describe love as an emotion that we can’t control, one that overwhelms logic and common sense. That’s what it’s like for me. I didn’t plan on falling in love with you, and I doubt that you planned on falling in love with me. But once we met, it was clear that neither of us could control what was happening to us. We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has happened only once, and that’s why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I’ll never forget a single moment of it.”
American Wedding (2003)
Jim: “Michelle, you are the one woman I want to be with, and the woman I can’t be without. I love you.”
Michelle: “Jim, I had trouble finding the words to tell you how I feel. And I realized something. Love isn’t just a feeling. Love is something you do. It’s a dress, a visit to band camp. A special haircut. Jim, you’ve given me everything I ever wanted, and it is my solemn vow to give everything I am to you.”
The Vow (2012)
Paige: “I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not, to agree to disagree on red velvet cake, and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.”
Leo: “I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. And to always know in the deepest part of my soul that no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find our way back to each other.”
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
“I love that you get cold when it’s seventy-one degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.”
Twilight (2011)
Edward: “Bella, from the moment I saw you walk up to my station in Biology, you challenged me. You challenged me to be stronger, to be a better version of myself. You challenged me to have faith, in God, in me, and in us. You challenged me to care, to be happy. Most of all, you challenged me to keep you alive. I intend to keep pursuing these challenges. With your challenges and your very existence, you have changed me forever. So I promise my heart, soul, and body to you. I, Edward Cullen, take you, Isabella Swan, to be my lawfully wedded wife, my constant friend, my faithful partner, my love from this day forward. In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in everything, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.”
Bella: “When I first learned I was going to write my own vows, I panicked. I looked at the paper for hours, no words coming to mind. For in truth, there is no way to describe the way I feel about you. From the moment I met you, I was changed. For the first time, I wanted someone’s attention on me. Only yours, though. The first thing I noticed about you was your amazing good looks and your striking eyes. But it was your kindness, your attentiveness, your sincerity, and your ability to keep saving me from disaster time and time again, that made me fall in love with you. Although that is a poor way of saying it. Because there are no words that encompass they way I feel about you. I give you my body, heart, and soul. I have no use for them anyway without you. I, Isabella Marie Swan, take you Edward Anthony Masen Cullen to be my beloved husband, to have and to hold you, to honor you, to treasure you, to be at your side in sorrow and in joy, in good times, and in the bad, and to love and cherish you always. I promise you this, from my heart, for all of the days of our lives.”
West Side Story (1961)
“Only you, you’re the only thing I’ll see forever. In my eyes, in my words and in everything I do.”
Valentines Day (2010)
“When you love someone, you love all of them…you got to love everything about them, not just the good things, but the bad things too. The things that you find lovable and the things you don’t.”
Made of Honor (2008)
“Nobody in the world makes me laugh the way you do. You’re my best friend. I just wanna be with you.”
Leap Year (2010)
May you never steal, lie, or cheat, but if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows, and if you must lie, lie with me all the nights of my life, and if you must cheat, then please cheat death because I couldn’t live a day without you. Cheers!
