Amber Normand

1. Where do you and your SO live?

Amber Normand

Louisiana

2. Where do you plan to have your wedding?

Louisiana

3. When is your wedding date?

September 20, 2014

4. What is the most exciting aspect of wedding planning for you?

I would say that besides picking out my wedding dress, the centerpieces and honeymoon planning have been exciting for me! The centerpieces because I love to decorate and the honeymoon, because I can’t wait to get away with my husband!

5. Have you chosen a color scheme?

Yes, we have. The theme of our wedding is “Apple of My Eye” and our wedding colors are black, white and apple green.

6. Are you having a big wedding or a small intimate wedding?

Our actual wedding will be small and intimate and the reception will be a little larger.

7. How involved has your SO been in planning thus far? How do you feel about that?

He doesn’t get too involved in all of the little details. He pretty much lets me pick and chose what I want, however, I have assigned some duties to him.

8. How long have you guys been together?

3 years

9. Who is your maid of honor and why?

My maid of honor is my best friend Brooke. She and I have been knowing each other for 13 years and I couldn’t imagine having anyone else as my maid of honor. We have been through so many fun times together and she is more like a sister to me.

10. Are you getting your hubby a wedding gift? 😉

Yes!

11. What kind of music will you be playing at the reception?

We are having a DJ who is a family friend and we will be asking her to play a variety of music.

Carina Mead

1. Where do you and your SO live?

carina-mead

We live in the great state of Eastern Oregon (at least that’s what we call it).

2. Where do you plan to have your wedding?

Our ceremony will take place at a beautiful 200 acre rural property that belongs to a friend of ours. He is working to restore the land to all native plants, which lucky for us, means wildflowers galore. The reception will be at our home.

3. When is your wedding date?

July 5, 2014

4. What is the most exciting aspect of wedding planning for you?

I don’t know if it counts as “planning”, but my favorite part is the daydreaming involved! It feels so good to find your perfect photographer, caterer, etc., but when i am browsing through wedding dresses and making playlists that I know my entire family and friends will be dancing to all in the same place, it sets my heart aflutter.

5. Have you chosen a color scheme?

Loosely. I originally wanted sage green and lavender with accents of sunflower yellow, but after realizing how difficult it is to find sage green, well… anything, I may have to compromise and go another route.

6. Are you having a big wedding or a small intimate wedding?

Our dream was to have just our closest family and friends, but Ashley has such a huge family and we don’t want anyone to feel left out, so our guest list has to come to around 150 when you include spouses and children. We are expecting around 70-80 of our invitees to come.

7. How involved has your SO been in planning thus far? How do you feel about that?

He has been just as involved as I want him to be, which is great! He has left the overall vision and details to me, but he also has a few things that are very important to him that I don’t care for, so it has been a nice balance. He hasn’t tried to take over and he has been so helpful with the logistics!

8. How long have you guys been together?

5 years and 7 months when we get married.

9. Who is your maid of honor and why?

I don’t have a maid of honor! In fact, I don’t have any bridesmaids at all! Maybe this would be a good blog post in itself.

10. Are you getting your hubby a wedding gift? 😉

Yes, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise!

11. What kind of music will you be playing at the reception?

For cocktail hour we have a playlist of indie dance music with some feel-good classic rock mixed in. Dinner will be scored by ambient, world and electronica music (think Thievery Corporation, All India Radio, Zero 7) and for dancing we have a great mix of everything from Run DMC to Queen.

Matt and I live together in our condo in Mesa, Arizona.

2. Where do you plan to have your wedding?

Our wedding will be at Foothills Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ.

3. When is your wedding date?

10/11/2014

4. What is the most exciting aspect of wedding planning for you?

Spending time planning and creating with my hubby-to-be.

5. Have you chosen a color scheme?

Yes! Dark blue with lime green accents.

6. Are you having a big wedding or a small intimate wedding?

We plan to have about 120 people attend our wedding. Pretty average, I think?

7. How involved has your SO been in planning thus far? How do you feel about that?

So far we have split tasks pretty evenly. We look at what needs to be done for the month and we each choose what we would like to do. The stuff neither of us are excited about (ah hem… addressing envelopes…) we do together. I am very happy with our arrangement.

8. How long have you guys been together?

Matt and I have been friends for 17 years, been dating for four years, and been engaged for one year.

9. Who is your maid of honor and why?

My cousin Lindsey is my MOH for many reasons. She is family and my best friend. She is talented, intelligent, and hilarious! I love this woman! She can lighten up a mood, be indignant on my behalf, or just sit for hours over a cup of tea. What more could I want?

10. Are you getting your hubby a wedding gift? 😉

We have agreed to write each other letters instead of buying a gift, though I will probably get a saucy somethin’ for the honeymoon!

11. What kind of music will you be playing at the reception?

I am a HUGE Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald fan. (Our critters are names Satchmo and Ella.) We will start off with some classics and move into some par-tay songs.

Nia McLean

1. Where do you and your SO live?

nia-mclean

Columbia, Maryland

2. Where do you plan to have your wedding?

Washington, DC – still working out the details of the venue

3. When is your wedding date?

November 1, 2014

4. What is the most exciting aspect of wedding planning for you?

The potential tastings – I’m a foodie, so I am definitely looking forward to those.

5. Have you chosen a color scheme?

Kind of… its either plum and silver or plum and silver with turquoise and midnight blue accents

6. Are you having a big wedding or a small intimate wedding?

We would like to keep it to under 150 people because we do not have a huge budget, but that’s proving to be difficult, so we really have to figure that out.

7. How involved has your SO been in planning thus far? How do you feel about that?

Sean has been very involved, which surprises me because he is admittedly not a planner. I appreciate his being so hands-on, especially since I am in another state finishing graduate school.

8. How long have you guys been together?

3 years

9. Who is your maid of honor and why?

One of my best friends, Jamelle, will be my matron of honor. She is the person I talk to every day and has been hugely supportive. When Sean and I first started talking, I showed her one of his emails to me and she was immediately like “I think you’ve met your match.”

10. Are you getting your hubby a wedding gift? 😉

He’s getting me, what more does he need? LOL. I honestly had not really thought about it. Perhaps I should. If I do, it will probably be a gag gift – something silly, but sentimental.

11. What kind of music will you be playing at the reception?

We are both huge Michael Jackson fans. Sean also loves Stevie Wonder. I started an “I Do” playlist on my iPod. I’m thinking it will be a mix of old school R&B and some neo-soul. We’re both from D.C., so I definitely want some go-go too.
